Visual Description of Artwork
Motion #2 is an acrylic painting, measuring 16 inches high by 12 inches wide. This painting displays a variety of intersecting circles of different sizes, painted in black, white, and gray tones. The largest circle, filling the lower left of the canvas, is completely black. The upper left corner of the painting is white negative space. The remaining circles occupy the center and the right side of the canvas. As in Motion #1, where the circles overlap, intersecting segments create new shapes and lines.
This is the second painting in this series of four works about circles in motion. The paintings are arranged in two pairs. Motion #2 is directly to the right of Motion #1. The relationship between the canvases creates the illusion that the circles are moving left to right, from one canvas to another.
