Visual Description of Artwork
This quilt features the repeating pattern of a Chinese ceramic bowl, transferred from photographs onto silk fabric. The images of the bowls form a grid: four rows of three bowls, with the second bowl of the third row replaced with an abstracted black and white pattern - suggesting, perhaps, an enlarged, distorted version of the pattern from the bowl’s surface. The grid of twelve rectangles (each including a bowl, save the one) is bordered top and bottom with darker grey silk panels, printed with repeating diagonal lines of small squares printed in white from the lower left to the upper right.
