Visual Description of Artwork
A delicate Chinese bowl - photographed and transferred as a black and white image onto fabric - sits at the center of a silk quilt. Layered around it are patterned concentric squares, formed from quilted panels. Immediately surrounding the bowl are panels printed with transfers from magazine pages, both advertising images and text of different sizes; overall, these patterns and words “read” as black and white, almost abstractly patterned. On either side of this black and white patterned square are two vertical panels of white silk, quilted with black swirly lines, and above and below the white patterned square are panels of multiple muted colors, which suggest layers of paint or wallpaper.Further images
