    __

The African lion population has decreased by 90% in the last century largely due to loss of habitat, illegal wildlife trade, disease, and climate change. They are already extinct in 26 countries across Africa. If habitat loss continues at the current rate, African lions could be completely extinct in the wild by 2050.
