Visual Description of Artwork
This magnificent quilt fills a whole wall of the gallery and is composed of long strips of magazine images, the width of packing tape. Some of these strips are solid colors, some include imagery and/or text elements. The magazine-page strips are affixed to canvas and covered with layers of glue to create a shiny, almost leathery surface. Overall, the quilt’s color is dark, with patches of color from the varied magazine images that comprise the work. The ends of the strips are uneven, creating a fringed effect along the bottom edge of the quilt.
